Jay Puranik was born in Welwyn Garden City to mixed descent. He attended Solent University from 2021, training in their Spotlight-recognised Musical Theatre BA (Hons) course.
Jay has been very productive during his time at University. In first year, he became voluntarily involved in Level 5’s production of Legally Blonde, starring as Emmett. A year later, he would portray Orin Scrivello D.D.S. in Little Shop of Horrors, an experience he found incredibly valuable for his growth. Jay finished university as Jon in Tick… Tick… BOOM! for his final project at the MAST Mayflower Studios; where he was also director and lead designer.
Over the last year, Jay has accrued two professional credits in a variety show and a Gian Carlo Menotti operetta. In additional, Jay starred as Lysander in a historic A Midsummer Night’s Dream production, celebrating 100 years since it was performed in the woods of Welwyn Garden City.
Jay is known qualatively for his uniquely loud vocal projection. Moreover, he especially enjoys playing comedic roles, singing rock songs and musicals, and loves contemporary dance.
He is also an avid animal lover, and is aspiring to finally have his first cat in the next few years.
